EDU 5115 Mathematics Methods

This course will prepare emerging educators to teach math by discussing instructional strategies, determining how students learn math, and developing the confidence needed to teach in the modern math classroom. In contrast with more rigid traditional math classrooms, this course will present the math classroom as a laboratory where collaboration, risk-taking, exploration, and reflection are essential elements of the problem-solving process. By the end of the course, students should be able to write and teach a math lesson that is accessible to all students regardless of perceived math ability.
