About this Catalog

This catalog presents essential information about the academic programs and degree objectives/requirements for Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion ("HUC-JIR" or the "College-Institute"); its admissions requirements and procedures; its costs and financial aid programs; and most of its academic policies and regulations.

This catalog also contains detailed descriptions of the College-Institute’s existing courses of instruction, registration procedures, a listing of its leadership and faculty, and other information used primarily by students and their faculty advisors. This collection enables prospective students to decide whether they might benefit from the HUC-JIR programs.

Caution: The course offerings, requirements, and policies of Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion are under continual examination and revision. This catalog is not a contract. The regulations set forth in the catalog form the basis for all academic performance; however, the academic regulations are subject to change at the discretion of the faculty and the College-Institute’s leadership. Faculty members are available for conference and advice, but the individual student assumes full responsibility for compliance with all academic requirements.
