EDU 5101 Teaching and Learning II
This is the second course of the year-long DeLeT Teaching and Learning Seminar, the foundation of the cohort-based exploration of knowledge about teaching and learning throughout DeLeT. The seminar introduces a vision and ideal of quality teaching based on the DeLeT Framework for Teaching and the California Teaching Performance Expectations, along with professional norms of practice that promote continuing growth for teachers. Four of these twelve sessions are dedicated to a module on Creating and Managing the Classroom Community. Throughout the year, we will work on developing an emerging teaching philosophy and a teaching practice based on current research and thinking about education. The yearlong seminar is deeply connected to fieldwork and all other DeLeT coursework.
