Graduation

Certificate, Degree or Ordination Requirements

Student must submit the application to graduate or ordained by the established deadline.

To record the completion date (conferral date), students must:

  • Successfully complete all curricular and non-curricular (i.e. institutes, seminars, etc.) requirements for their program of study.
  • Successfully complete all required courses in their program and have received a minimum grade of “P” or “B” in no less than 80% of the total attempted credits earned in each program while at HUC-JIR.
  • Successfully complete all fieldwork/clinical requirements of the program as certified by the Program Director.
  • Successfully complete all assignments by the deadline established for the submission of assignments in the semester of graduation/ordination.
  • For programs requiring a thesis, capstone project, or dissertation, all deadlines regarding submission and approval of the thesis/capstone/dissertation must be met prior to graduation and/or ordination.
  • Communicate with their Program Director(s) prior to the beginning of the final year of study to determine eligibility for graduation/ordination. The Program Director will review each student’s progress towards the completion of requirements for graduation/ordination and convey any concerns to the student.
  • Have resolved all grades of Incomplete at least three weeks prior to the date of graduation/ordination.
  • Have completed an exit interview with their Program Director(s).

Failure to meet these requirements may result in a delay of graduation/ordination until any unresolved matters are settled.

To receive the certificate, diploma, or ordination document, student must:

  • Have completed an exit interview with the Office of Financial Aid, if applicable.
  • Have made arrangements with all HUC-JIR libraries and resource centers for the return of all materials.
  • Have made arrangements with the Student Accounts Office to settle all outstanding financial matters including any health care/insurance charges.
  • Have complied with the requests from campus offices including the return of mailbox keys, IDs, etc.

Failure to meet these requirements may result in a delay of receiving your certificate or diploma until any unresolved matters are settled.

Thesis / Dissertation / Capstone

The policies concerning the preparation and submission of a thesis, capstone project, or dissertation are contained in the various handbooks of HUC-JIR’s academic programs. Students should obtain one from their Program Director or from the HUC-JIR website. The student’s Program Director will work with the library to ensure that appropriate copies of the thesis, capstone or dissertation are provided to Klau Library. The Program Director will notify the Office of the Registrar of successful completion of the thesis/dissertation/capstone requirement for the purpose of graduation.

Residency Requirements

At least 75% of degree or certificate credits must be earned from HUC-JIR. The minimum residence requirement for each degree, certificate, and ordination program of HUC-JIR may be available from the Program Director.
