MUS 5300 Cantillation
This required course reviews the basic theory of cantillation and its application to text across all cantillation systems. Musical focus is on the melodies for the Cantillation systems for the Five M'gillot as well as special blessings for the various systems, musical detours, and usage of cantillation motifs during the liturgical year. High Holy Day cantillation is reviewed at the beginning of the semester in preparation for the Yamim Noraim. Core.
