EDU 6021 Purposes, Aims, and Aspirations of Jewish Education

The basic structure of most schools (both general and Jewish) has remained remarkably stable over the past century, despite the many critiques that have been leveled against it. This course offers students the opportunity to re-think and re-envision Jewish educational institutions by examining the educational values they deem most important, exploring multiple ideologies (Jewish and general) of education and schooling, and challenging prevailing assumptions that are rarely questioned.
