RTE 575 Jewish Mysticism Part 2
Jewish Mysticism Part Two will explore the major trends in Jewish mysticism from the emergence of Kabbalah in Provence until today. Topics to be addressed include the Book Bahir, Ecstatic Kabbalah, Zoharic literature, Christian Kabbalah, Safedian Kabbalah and Lurianic Kabbalah, Sabbatianism, Tkhines literature, and Hasidut. Primary sources will be read in the original (translation provided). No prerequisites. This is an in-person elective.
