HUC-JIR offers all 4th year students the opportunity to complete a unit of CPE during the academic year. It consists of two separate components: formal classroom instruction, conducted one evening per week and practical experience, which involves the pastoral care of patient populations, including unaffiliated Jewish patients (approximately 10 hours per week) at one of three or four local placements under the supervision of the course instructor.
