MUS 438 Life Cycle Reform Workshop

The goal of this required class is to explore and master music of the Jewish life cycle including the study of musical repertoire, liturgy, and performance practice for life cycle events. Students will become familiar with the liturgy of weddings, funerals and other life cycle ceremonies; develop a fluence in the nusach and cantorial styles of life cycle music; hone one’s leadership abilities as a life cycle officiant and gain a wide perspective for the workings of ritual, as the needs of the Jewish people continue to evolve and change.  Core.
