MUS 428 Music Analysis

The goal of this course is to acquire tools for musical analysis. Form and design will be the focus of this course. The semester will be divided into three sections: analysis of classical music, analysis of Reform synagogue music for cantor, choir and organ, analysis of solo/traditional hazzanut. Students will be required to apply this knowledge to a research project.
