Certificate in Jewish Educational Leadership
HUC-JIR’s School of Education offers a Graduate Certificate in Jewish Educational Leadership (CEDL), in partnership with its colleagues at The Mandel Teacher Educator Institute (MTEI). MTEI is a two-year professional development program for teacher educators who work in Jewish educational settings. MTEI has been a leading provider of the highest quality professional learning in Jewish education for over two decades. As the certificate program is embedded in, and an extension of, the MTEI program, only current MTEI participants can enroll in the certificate and perform the additional program requirements at the graduate level to earn the certificate.
As described on their website, MTEI “gives educational leaders the tools they need to become extraordinary teachers of teachers. MTEI helps educational leaders transform their schools into places where the teachers learn together in community over their whole careers, building cultures where both Jewish content and understanding of teaching and learning are at the core.” HUC-JIR oversees and provides additional coursework to create a robust graduate certificate experience.
The graduate certificate enables a select group of MTEI participants to deepen and extend their learning about instructional leadership, through reflective practice, mentoring, collaborative inquiry, independent action research. Participants complete a graduate level independent research project embedded in their practice. Graduates can apply the 12 credits earned in the program toward the Executive MA in Jewish Education at HUC-JIR.
The application process is conducted by the Director of MTEI; the academic administration of the program is overseen by the Director of the HUC-JIR School of Education.
For additional information about MTEI, go to https://www.mtei-learning.org.
