WRL 601 Worship Lab

Worship Lab is an immersive, experiential course designed to equip future prayer leaders with the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively lead worship. Students will explore the integration of personal theology, sacred music, liturgy, and Jewish practice to hone their skills in creating authentic and engaging prayer experiences. Through hands-on practice, collaboration, and reflective feedback, students will develop skills in various aspects of worship leadership, including liturgical design and self-preparation. The course combines both traditional and innovative approaches to ensure a well-rounded and dynamic preparation for leading prayer in different contexts, formats, and modalities. During the Spring semester we utilize the Friday evening liturgy and Shabbat torah service as vehicles for exploring the above. Students are encouraged to use readings as an insight into gaining skill in various liturgical modes while also developing a personal liturgical style and voice. Students are further encouraged to use assignments and discussions as a means to create work that can be brought into student pulpits or any community in which they hold a leadership role.
