LATN 602 Latin Biblical Scholarship

In this class we shall examine, via selected readings, the history of Latin biblical scholarship in its 'golden age', that is, the period from the 4th to the 6th century. The authors whom we shall read include Hilary, Jerome, Augustine, and Cassiodorus. The primary concern of the course will be the textual criticism and literary criticism of these authors and of the Latin tradition generally. Open to all students. Latin text.
