JTI 606 Talmud and Codes

The Jewish Textual Interpretation sequence is designed to help students to become more skilled readers and interpreters of biblical and rabbinic literature in Hebrew and Aramaic; to introduce students to several genres and forms of this literature and their historical context; to challenge students to consider a range of philosophical and theological questions posed in this literature; and to consider the claims it makes upon them as Jews and as rabbis. JTI 606 introduces students to the study of the Babylonian Talmud and to the study of post-talmudic legal codes. Core course.
