HIS 510 Sephardic Judaism

This course will trace the experience of Sephardic Judaism from its obscure beginnings in the Iberian Peninsula to the forced conversion of the Portuguese Jews in 1497. It will deal with political, social, economic, religious and intellectual history, with a special focus on the role that the experience of its Jewish component played in the formation of Iberian civilization.
