DMI 721 Theology: Trauma
This course will provide students with an introduction to the history of psychological trauma theory. Contemporary understanding of trauma from a psychoanalytic/psychodynamic perspective will be explored through theories including attachment theories and depth psychological perspectives. Students will become familiar with psychoanalytic and psychodynamic theorists who describe the inner world of trauma. Participants will be able to identify the components of traumatic experience, dissociative defensive structure, treatment modalities, and learn about the importance of a theological perspective from various theorists.
