This course addresses the concepts and principles of establishing a supportive, healthy environment for K-12 student learning. It focuses on how students’ health, safety, brain development, and attachment styles impact learning and how to access school and community resources. Candidates practice strategies for working constructively with diverse learning profiles of students, families, and community members on social and emotional well-being, health, and safety issues. Specific resources within the Jewish community are explored as opportunities for collaboration and referral among teachers, school systems, and social service agencies.
