BIB 535 The Megillot & the Seasons of Our Lives
Five short biblical books accompany our communal life, being read on special occasions: The Song of Songs on Passover, Ruth on Shavuot, Lamentations on Tisha B’av, Qohelet/Ecclesiastes on Sukkot, and Esther on Purim. This seminar will focus on key issues in each of the books, explore what these texts contribute to communal celebrations, and also examine how they speak to the seasons of life of love, loss, and everything in between.
